Rural Access Road & Courtyard Resurfacing
Project Overview
This project involved the resurfacing of a rural access road and adjoining yard area, replacing an ageing and worn surface with a new, high-performance asphalt finish. The objective was to improve durability, provide a smoother driving surface, and enhance the overall usability of the space for regular vehicle access.
The design focused on creating a clean, uniform finish along the curved access route while ensuring the surface blended naturally with the surrounding rural environment.
Scope of Work
The project began with full surface preparation, including cleaning, repairs, and levelling to establish a stable foundation. Any weak or damaged areas were addressed to ensure long-term performance.
A new asphalt surface was then laid across the entire access road and yard area. The material was carefully applied and compacted to achieve a smooth, consistent finish, with defined edges along both sides of the roadway.
Attention was given to the transition areas between the access road and open yard, ensuring a seamless connection and even surface throughout.
Challenges & Solutions
The curved layout of the rural access road required precision during installation to maintain consistent width and clean edges. The team worked methodically to ensure accuracy across the entire route.
Working in an open rural setting also required efficient coordination of materials and machinery to maintain workflow without delays. The team managed this effectively to deliver a consistent finish across both narrow and wide sections.
Final Result
The completed project delivers a smooth, durable, and visually clean surface suitable for regular vehicle use. The new asphalt significantly improves accessibility, safety, and overall appearance of the area.
This project demonstrates East Herts Surfacing Ltd’s capability to deliver reliable surfacing solutions in rural environments, combining practical functionality with high-quality workmanship.
