Milton Keynes Car Park Surfacing Project
Project Overview
This project involved the construction of a new car park surface in Milton Keynes, carried out with a focus on durability, performance, and a clean, professional finish. The works were designed to create a strong foundation capable of handling regular vehicle traffic while maintaining a smooth and visually consistent surface.
The objective was to install a high-quality asphalt system using a structured layering approach, ensuring long-term strength and resistance to wear. Careful planning and coordination allowed the project to be completed efficiently while maintaining high standards throughout each stage of the process.
Scope of Work
The project began with the preparation and levelling of the sub-base to ensure a stable platform for the asphalt layers. Once the groundwork was completed, approximately 100 tonnes of binder course were laid evenly across the site, forming a solid structural base for the surface.
Following this, 80 tonnes of 10mm Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) were applied as the wearing course. This premium material was carefully installed to provide a smooth, dense, and durable finish, enhancing both performance and appearance. The team ensured consistent thickness and precise finishing across all areas of the car park.
Challenges & Solutions
Working across a large open area required careful coordination of materials, machinery, and timing to maintain efficiency throughout the installation. The team followed a structured workflow, ensuring that each stage—from binder application to final surfacing—was completed without delays or inconsistencies.
