Road Resurfacing Works in Hertfordshire
We recently completed a road resurfacing project in Hertfordshire, with the works carried out under a full road closure to provide a safe and controlled environment for both the surfacing team and machinery.
The project involved removing the existing worn road surface before installing a completely new asphalt layer. The existing carriageway was planed off to a depth of 50mm, creating a suitable and even base ready for resurfacing. Careful preparation at this stage is essential to ensure the new material bonds correctly and delivers a consistent finish across the full width of the carriageway.
Once the preparation works were completed, our team machine laid 50mm of 10mm Ultipave. Machine laying allowed the asphalt to be installed evenly across the road, helping to achieve consistent depth, levels and surface texture throughout the resurfaced area.
The newly laid material was then properly compacted to produce a strong, smooth and durable finished surface suitable for regular road traffic.

Completed Road Surface
The completed project has provided the road with a fresh, uniform and hard-wearing surface, significantly improving the condition of the carriageway. Using 10mm Ultipave and machine laying helped create an even finish while providing the durability required for continued vehicle use.
Carrying out the project under a road closure also allowed the team to work efficiently across the full carriageway without live traffic interfering with the surfacing operation, helping maintain both safety and quality throughout the works.
